You'd think with DC No3 I'd have half a clue, but..............what does a show look like?

I'm 37+5 weeks with DC No3. First baby was overdue and induced and show came away when waters broke. Second baby was elective CS, no show at all.

I've had a couple of incidences of a pinkish discharge when I've wiped over the last couple of weeks and then today I felt a bit squidgy and when I went to the loo there is a bit of discharge on my pad which is an opaque yellowey green colour and is like thickish CM. More of the same when I wiped.

Could this be a show or should I be worried that I have some sort of infection? Have got a bit of period type pains going on and sore back and legs too. I've had a stoamch bug over the weekend which coused some contractions but it's kind of stopped again.

This feels like a first labour as I've never done it myself before and I'm feeling pretty clueless....help

I'm afraid I don't have much of a clue either as I've never gone into spontaneous labour myself - but I would be concerned about the greenish discharge. I would call and check with your midwife if I were you. good luck

3 kids (on 4th) and i have only ever seen one show

it was like a big blob of thick jelly, pink in the middle and reminded me of a mini jelly-fish from spongebob squarepants.

sounds like you just have the increased discharge thats comman at the end of pregnancy.

have been having similar the last week.

terrified to call MW incase she says go and get checked out. I'm on my own with the DCs and DH not back till tomorrow night.

is there anyone who can watch the kids for you?

i didnt want to go last night so hung on till the kids were in bed.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 16:24

I could get a neighbour to babysit. I'll maybe wait till tomorrow and see if there is any more.

I hate all this uncertainty. I need to know "right Mrs Lackadaisycal, you will begin contractions at 2200 hours on Wednesday 22 October 2008. These will be preceeded by mild period pains, backache and sore legs with a period of clearing out of all bodily functions...crack on"

If only life were so simple!

oh i wish i knew as well.

i am still placing bets for around the 5th rather than my EDD of the 19th.

chocbiscuits · 21/10/2008 21:29

pinkish as far as I could tell and it went on for a couple or three days and was a bit gloopy but then I went for a week afterwards with nothing happening and got induced with Ds1.

feeling pretty clueless about imminent Dc2!!

FAQ · 21/10/2008 21:34

only ever had the one show (DS3 - also the first time I went into spontaneous labour) - started off as a big white gloop (yes I suppose like Misdee describe a little jellyfish). Over the next 12-16hrs or so I lost more of it and it became pinker and redder.......(by the time it was really pink I was actually in the early stages of labour but thought they were just BH's ).

DS3 arrived just over 24hrs from the first bit of it.

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 21/10/2008 21:51

Hi Lacks , doesn't sound like a show to me - but I'm not a huge expert only ever had them with DC3 (notice plural - I had lots of them over several weeks before he arrived).

Hope you are taking it easy and not so worried by the time you read this .

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 22:48

thanks

I'm pretty sure it's just increased CM and nothing to get excited about; however since posting I have managed to walk into the stair gate and have given myself a right ole scrape and prod in the lower bump region and getting pain and tightenings.

this is turning into an epic already and I have two weeks still to go!!

Hi lackadaisy, when I had a show on dd it was a large jelly like blob, quite pinkish in colour, about 3 hours before contractions started. I have been having similar discharge to you this week. Am taking antiiotics for a mystery infection at the moment though.

Pinkyminkee · 21/10/2008 22:58

Lacks I had a big show with DS, I was going to say it looked like a jellyfish, but I see Misdee has beaten me to it.

Hope you get some reassurance tomorrow.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/10/2008 22:59

hi suiledonn, pink blobby jelly it most certainly isn't!

I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can get checked out after my argument with the gate so I'll get them to do a swab as well just to rule out infection incase the pains are infection based.
