will a stretch and sweep get me started?

i am due on friday, and have my next mw appointment on wed. i asked her to do a stretch and sweep on the grounds that it won't do any harm and my dd was 11 days late, a situation i would much prefer to avoid this time, not least because the novelty of being pregnant wore off at the start of june...

with dd i had 2 stretch and sweeps, the first dilated me a bit, which enabled the next mw to ascertain that dd's head was on my cervix which was why she had not yet entered the world, so the 2nd s + w worked like a charm.

so now i don't know whether it would always take two, or if i need to psych myself up for giving birth on wednesday (plus arrange childcare for dd). what do you think?!?

it will only work if you would have gone into labour anyway within 24 - 48 hours

so it is not a question that anyone can really answer!!

you'll give birth when your baby is ready

most MWs would agree i thikn , that they are best done at 41 + weeks rather than before the due date

according to my dates i'm due tomorrow, it is the scan that put me back to fri, i'm hoping that will count in my favour...

i hope your baby arrives sooner rather than later ! lots of sex will help ripen the cervix, if that helps
