I had and Emergency CS 17 wks ago. Bleeing post op was not too bad and settled after a few weeks. Last week i thought my period had returned as i started to get spotting and felt weepy, but it never came. i have had a week of spotting which has now stopped. Anyone had similar? i had smear done a few weeksa ago and also swabs as felt had increase in discharge. Swabs were normal which i was surprised at as i am getting plugs of mucus..sorry TMI!!! I feel a little silly asking for advice as im a practice nurse!! but i rarely deal with post-natal women!

Six motnhs after first one - with twins, and then about 18 weeks after second one with DS3. I wasn't BFing. Hope it all settles down quickly.

Lib76 · 06/10/2008 11:53

cheers rosbif! i wish it would hurry up and arrive! i just want my hormones back to normal and maybe my hair will stop falling out too! DH keeps laughing at me cause all do is cry at the X factor!!

7 weeks and I was breastfeeding.

LadyBee · 06/10/2008 20:20

24 weeks and I still haven't got it.
But I have also had a mystery few days of feeling like it might be about to arrive, and then it doesn't. And I have also had an increase in mucus. I'm BFing.

MrsSnorty · 06/10/2008 20:25

12 weeks (which was about 2 weeks after my post op/birth bleeding stopped!). And I was fully bfeeding

Pria · 06/10/2008 20:27

Nearly 28 weeks with DS and 16 weeks with DD
BF both. STILL crying at Xfactor though!

Pinkyminkee · 06/10/2008 20:34

Is the menstrual cycle affected by cs? It was 6-7 months for both mine, I was bfeeding but I bfed ds for 7 months, and dd for 15 months, so not sure if bfeeding ahd any bearing either. Not much help, I'm afraid. i hope things settle down for you soon.

Shitehawk · 06/10/2008 20:37

13 (blissful) period-free months here.

flowergirls · 06/10/2008 22:35

Lib, if you are bf then you may well ovulate without getting a period. My dd was 9 months old when I conceived no 3 and I had had no periods since cs. Then I bf no 3 so no periods all in all for 2 years! Just be aware that any bleeding you have should be normal and not "offensive" (or smelly - hope not TMI!). Should settle down eventually (as will the hair loss!)

LadyBee · 06/10/2008 22:38

Does anyone know whether you would be able to pick up ovulation using one of those predictor kits while breastfeeding? Sorry for hijack, just curious.

Lib76 · 07/10/2008 17:14

LadyBee, i would imagine so, give it a go.
flowergirls i had to stop BF due to being hospitalised with bilateral mastitis! LONG story. so kinda thought periods would have come back by now! keep feeling like im going to get them, wish they would hurry up!

Lib. sorry about the mastitis - as a fellow sufferer I know it is grim! After my first cs I remember it took a while for my periods to sort themselves out (I too shared the mucus situation!) I understand that you just want to feel like your body is getting back to normal! I think recovery from an emergency cs is really about 6 months at the very minimum. I know you are a practice nurse but like you say this is outside your remit. Speak to your hv for some reassurance, they may be offer to help or your gp.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 08/10/2008 21:04

4 weeks each time (had two)

PortofinoPumpkin · 08/10/2008 21:07

Mine started a year to the day from the last one I had. So about 3 months after section? I wasn't BF.

PortofinoPumpkin · 08/10/2008 21:08

Which reminds me actually - I don't seem to have had one recently . I HOPE it's the menopause and nothing more scary!

NellyTheElephant · 08/10/2008 22:06

I don't think having a section has any effect on periods. For what it's worth, mine was about 10 months after DD1 (even though I stopped bf at 5 months) and 9 months after DD2 (stopped bf at 6 months)

2 months and breastfeeding each time (2)

AbstractMouse · 10/10/2008 00:45

I had af around a week after post birth bleeding stopped, so around 6 weeks each time. Would have loved an extra few weeks off.

anonymxxx · 10/10/2008 06:17

Check out my thread. Am BF, VB, but no period yet. DS almost 11 months. I feel very very PMSy, but no evidence. God luck (?!)

Alieight · 11/10/2008 18:31

10 weeks and I'm fully breastfeeding...
