I am two weeks away from giving birth to my third baby. I have heard horror stories that these are far worse after baby number 3. Is it true and if so what will they give me for pain relief?

Mine were very painful indeed. With DC3 I asked for pain relief for the afterpains, when they were stitching me up, and they gave me a suppository (dunno what it was ) but it really helped. With DC4 I just had paracetamol and found the pain really hard to handle.

Good luck

I took my own painkillers in with number 3 and started dosing myself up as soon as she was out!

Afterpains were hell with baby3, but I had co-codomal with baby 4 and hardly noticed any twinges . You only need it for a few days, and considering the way labour tends to clean the bowels out thoroughly , I wouldn't worry about constipation for a mere 48-72 hours.

Had bad ones after no2, nothing at all after no3

Yes, certainly more painful than the previous two - I didn't take anything for them though and they didn't last longer than about 2 weeks.

mine were worse than labour with my 3rd, 4th and 5th.

I also had them with my 2nd, but not nearly so bad, and paracetomal helped then.....not so with the subsequent babies.

I found that a hot water bottle helped, plus a tens machine surprisingly. and lots of strong lovely drugs!

Oh yay! I am now soooooo looking forward to giving birth in a little over 3 weeks. Maybe ds3 can just stay where he is, I'm in no hurry!
