Your first period after baby arrived

Was it really, really heavy? Mine is almost as heavy as my lochia in the first couple of days when DS was born. Going through so many pads and tampons won't actually stay in (sorry if TMI). Is this normal as I don't want to waste GP time!

i came on after about 11 weeks of giving birth, and i was quite heavy, but it settled down after few days.stuff waisting gps time, thats what they're there for!

Thanks. Don't want to go to GP but was a bit concerned because I need to change pads over every half hour at the moment. Thankfully I slept on a towel last night because it nearly made its way through that folder over too.

You poor thing - it's a swiz isn't it - no period for 9 months but then you get 9 months worth in one go followed by the world's heaviest period. It will settle down but just remember what your body has been through and get the GP to check if you need iron tablets.

My first 2 were very heavy and I think it was heavier then my bleeding after birth. Have just had my 3rd and it wasnt as heavy or as painful. I hope the next one is better again!

Amberc that makes me feel worried - I haven't had a period in 3.6 years cos of BF and no periods between pregnancies. I dread to think what my first one after this baby (no3) will be like, by then it'll probably have been 5 years or more.

Hi,

Yes totally normal - I asked the same question when I got my first one after the birth.

BTW I've just had my second post baby period and it was pretty heavy as well!
