Has anyone used rasberry leaf either as a tea or in form of tablets? What did you think about it?

I drank it during the last few months - don't know if it helped but managed to push for a long time (ended up with forceps though!)

I took the tablets and had 2 vey quick labours.

LoubieLou04 · 28/02/2005 18:27

I used the tablets near the end of pregnancy as was advised by mw that would have to drink loads of the tea to get any benefit. Laboured for 3 hours only and pushed for 20mins. Not sure if anything to do with tablets but hey if there's a chance it works no harm trying, anything for an easy life. Can buy tablets at health food shops.

norash40 · 28/02/2005 18:40

Friend of mine took them and swarres by them. I am taking them now and hope that they do help coz this is my first baby and I am getting real scared of a long and difficult labour. 37 weeks. Wish me luck ladies.

Hey Mosschops

how long were you taking it for? Did you take it before as well as after labour or just after due date?

I took the tablets from about 36 and a half weeks, DD was born at 37+5 after 4 hours labour very little pushing.

Don't know if they work or not but I'll be taking them again to coin a phrase every little helps.

norash40 · 02/03/2005 17:43

Hey SweetKitty,

How many tablets did you take per day?

I asked my MW about this s I'm now 36 weeks. She didn't rate it at all, and said if you must take it have tablets cos the tea is disgusting. Also, only take it very late on, cos it can bring on early labour. In two minds to be honest whether to bother or not. Suppose it can't do any harm, but do not want baby to come yet!

norash40 · 02/03/2005 18:00

I satrted taking them at 35 weeks, been taking them for a week now and no ill effects. I am 36 weeks and the baby is still very active and not engaged yet. I guess iit might be a while yet till he makes an appearance.

I hope they help though because I have not bothered with any other tablets even pain killers since I got pregnant.

The say that a baby is considered full term after 37 weeks anyway so I am not too worried as from all the scans I have had show that the baby is two weeks ahead in developement anyway.

it is much more potent in it's rawest form - the loose tea, not tablets. I

maretta · 02/03/2005 18:41

I took it from 35 ish weeks and it does taste grim.

Now I'm pregnant again and when the time comes, I will endure the tea again as I had a fab, easy and fairly painless labour. The midwife said my contractions were short but very effective. Don't know if this had anything to do with the tea but why change anything.

My pregnancy went to 41 and half weeks - dont think I'd have minded going into labour a bit earlier.

norash40 · 02/03/2005 18:51

I am taking the capsules. I cannot stand tea and cannoot even stand the thought of having any form of herbal tea.

Most people who've taken it cannot say whether it was the reason why they had bearable if not easy labour. My friend had a baby in January and thinks they helped.

So I will keep taking them hoping that they work for me.

I drank the tea at around 35 weeks during my second pregnancy till baby came (a week late). my first labour with my eldest now 10 was extremely painful so i had an epidural and was in labour for 14 and 1/2 hours, my second labour was much better i had no labour pains untill i was ready to push, ofcourse i didn't know thats what i was feeling till i got to the hospital and they said your water hasn't gone so we'll break it then you can push (from start to finish 2 and 1/2 hours) 30 mins pushing. it was all very fast, i am now 22 wks and plan to drink the tea as i hope thats what saved me the initial labour pains. Also i would advise against anyone trying castor oil as that is deffinately foul and didn't work at all.

Fran1 · 05/03/2005 22:15

I drank 6+cups a day. Still went 14days past due date, but did go into labour naturally and had quick labour - 6hrs with gas and air.

I loved the taste whilst pg, couldn't drink it now though.

bibiboo · 07/03/2005 23:15

A friend of mine swore by it, and she had two, six hour labours... I on the other hand took it religiously from about 35 weeks onwards and it didn't help me one bit. I had a 47:35 hour labour and still ended up with a c-section.
BUT, anything's worth a try, so don't simiss it, it oculd work for you.

jenkel · 07/03/2005 23:30

Drank the tea 3+ times a day from 36 weeks with both pregnancies, 1st one 17 hour labour, 2nd one 12 hour labour so dont think it helped. Mad as it may seem but I quite liked the taste of the tea.

Muller · 08/03/2005 14:45

I drunk from 34 weeks - labour 4.5 hours, and 8.5 cm dilated from 2 hours onwards!!!! Not sure if it was the tea, but certainly would recommend trying it!

Panyanpickle77 · 20/03/2006 22:28

I took 2 of the tablets the night before my ds was born, and the following day had an hour and half labour ( I was 9cm when I arrived at hospital, and had only had 4 contractions on the way there). It could have been that I would have gone into labour anyway, but its a strange coincidence!
