Anyone given birth in Spain and know what "monitores" are all about?

I have been told I have to go to "monitores" on my first due date in 2 weeks time (which is almost a week early by my reckoning, and by the growth scan date the hospital gave me at 12 weeks). I want as little intervention as possible and don't like the sound of these monitores much. Anyone have any experience of this? Thanks!

I'm going for monitores next week (38 weeks), unless I'm luck enough to give birth soon! I understand that this is when they hook you up to a monitor and measure the babies activity. My understanding is that it is not invasive. Where in Spain are you

Just what fall08baby says. Its not at all invasive, they just lie you on the bed and attach you to the monitor. You have to lie there for about 20 mins from what I remember.

Good luck to you both!

Thanks for setting my mind at rest. They haven't been overly informative and they generally seem quite keen on intervention so I was a bit anxious! I am in Cadiz province fall08

Monitores were okay, baby is fine. I'm still waiting (DUE date Oct 7)and in fact have monitores again tomorrow.
How about you, have you had your appointment? Remember to go armed with questions, if not they tell you nothing. I made the mistake of not preparing myself (It's been 9 months of dealing with the Spanish health care system and I still get caught off guard. Must be the hormones!!) and left the appointment without any information. Tomorrow I'll bombard them with questions.
Hope all goes well for you.
