Premi babies and premi mummys is there a link?

I was a premi baby myself born at 34 weeks. All three of my dughters have been premature as well born between 35 down to 33 weeks ranging from 5lb 5oz to 3lb 6oz.With all of them the unbilical cord stopped working as effecitvely as it should from 28 weeks and then spontanious labour occured.

Are any of you who have premi babies also premi babies themselves? I mjust wondering if there is some corrolation in this or not as no other explination can be given as to why i dont carry babies to term (i dont smoke, drink, take drugs etc)

I was prem, born at 33.5 weeks. My DD was born full term at 37.5 weeks. No correlation in my case

Nor in my case. I was due July 17, born August 13. (44 weeks?) My oldest daughter was a preemie, born at 36 weeks.

I wasn?t a prem baby, only 2wks early, but DP was born at 34wks.
My first pg ended in a stillbirth at 33wks (male child-Alex), no explanation.
My second pg was very closely monitored and DS was showing signs of growth retardation at 34wks. 24hrs later he was born by CS (5lb 4oz).
DP?s mother also lost a pg before having DP at 30 some weeks (male child).
DP?s sister has lost countless pg?s but most of them pre 18wks (those she know of were male)
She has managed to produce 4 live births, 2 girls and 2 boys, but both boys were 30 some weekers too.
I have often wondered if there is something going on here but when I suggested this pattern to the ?experts? they just shrugged their shoulders and said ?maybe?.
BTW: DP and SIL do not share the same Father, so guess if there is something funny here it must have been passed down on the Mothers side. Good news for DS and any of his children- hopefully.

The umbilical cord thing could be something hereditary - you could have had it to? Either way if they have all had that, then at least you know why they all were. Babies are premature for such a range of different reasons, and quite a few don't really have a link with anything.

Not sure if this counts at all but my DH was born at 34 weeks, whereas I was late!.... with my DS I was induced at 38 weeks, although I was full term Theo was only 6 pounds and half an ounce and dropped to 5 pounds as soon as he'd got rid of all the gunk inside him... I wonder if my next one will be tiny too!
