Have any of you had a hindwater leak that just dribbles from time to time? Maybe TMI

Over the past week I've suspected that my waters might be leaking very slowly. Saw the MW yesterday and she checked and said there was no evidence of it at the point in time but couldn't rule out that they had leaked and resealed but what I'm feeling could also be a lot of natural discharge as I'm at 34 weeks

Again last night and this morning, I keep feeling something trickle from time to time. It tickles and definately isn't me peeing myself as the sensation is definately in my vagina.

Got a pad on, it is damp, doesn't smell so not wee and whatever is on it isn't discolouring the pad.. Last night had a panty liner on and after about 4 hours it looked fit to burst.

I'm keeping an eye on my temperature in case it is a leak but wonder if any of you ladies have had similar and can advise?

If your waters did leak slowly, what did the MWs advise. Were you induced immediately or left to complete your pregnancy?

I had a a slow hind water leak with DS1 for about a month and i was scanned reguarly to check the water level around the baby i was induced on ds's due date for many reasons including that one, but i think (correct me if im wrong) hind water can get replaced? Someone please correct me f i am wrong.

You are right - the baby continuously makes new water.

Did the leak get worse over time?

When I turned up at delivery with DS1, my waters had already broken but i had no idea having put it all down to general end of pregnancy ming. I didn't need to wear a pad at all and had no trickling so it is possible for them to go without you noticing it.

Hi ajm200. I had the same experience as you. At 35 weeks with DS3 I had a period of about 5 days where I felt trickles of fluid, then it stopped for a couple of days, then I had a really prolonged leak. I phoned the labour ward who told me to go in (it was about 9pm in the evening).They confirmed a leak and DS3 was born by csect the following day.

Please follow your gut instinct - get a second opinion, a fit-to-burst sanitary towel is unusual.

I did. 6 days before labour I had trickles on and off. I thought initially that I was wetting myself a bit, but after a couple of days I decided that due to lack of odour and the fact I could stop a wee mid-flow it probably wasn't. The thing was it started and stopped. It gradually got ever so slightly more, until the day before labour I started using a panty liner. I didn't mention it to the midwife though until labour had started and she seemed shocked to find out it had been going on for 6 days.
Btw, when my waters did properly go they went with an almighty pop and a gush, so there was plenty of fluid in there.

Uptpmyeyes Did your DS need special care after arriving so early?

My main concern is that this baby will arrive too early and need extra care. I'm happy to live with a slow leak for a few more weeks but don't want to end up with a preemie

I had a leak for a few weeks but this was probably down to incompetent cervix, my cervix was opening silently from 19 weeks and I got an infection eventually (with a high fever and feeling very ill). I knew it wasn't urine as it smelled quite sweet and it just seeped out even when lying down, it went on for 4 weeks. However, there was a lady next to me in hospital with a slow leak and the hospital were quite happy to leave her till 34 weeks or more (although she was admitted). I don't want to scare you at all and wasn't sure whether to post but as long as you keep an eye on it it should be OK. I have felt damp a few times in this pg and I got some of those amniosense pads off ebay. They change colour if the fluid is amniotic and they have put my mind at rest a few times.

Jellybeans Didn't know about the amniosense pads.. That's a good tip. I'll take a look. Hope this pregnancy goes more smoothly for you.

Couldn't find them on ebay but found some on another site.

OK great, they are expensive I paid about £20 inc p&p but I just use them every week or so. Think mine were from homehealth or valuemed. Hope it will put your mind at rest abit x

Hi ajm. No DS3 didn't need special care. My boys were born at 36, 37 and 35 weeks and only the 37 weeker needed to go into SCBU for a couple of nights - at 6lb 12oz he was also the heaviest. My incy wincy DS1 born at 36 weeks weighed 4lb 10oz and he wasn't having a sniff of special care and left hospital with me when he was three days old weighing 4lb 6oz.

Hi uptomyeyes. Thanks for letting me know. I really need to stop worrying and just accept that this baby will come when she is ready, early or late.
