Warning!!! I drank loads of it to get a quick birth, number 3 was still 10 days late, but very very quick. No first stage. No time for endorphins to kick in. No chance for tens or any other pain relief. Nearly born on the bathroom floor, and the ambulance.
So don't over do it!
I used the tea bags.

I drank the tea 1 a day from 36wks and 2 a day in the last two weeks. Worked too well for me I think, I ended up with nearly constant BH and slow labour for 4 days before having a c section. I think it just irritated my uterus when DD wasn't ready to come out! Next time I think I'll have 1 a day from 38 weeks. Unless the dreaded BH start again!

whoisdoingthedishes · 03/10/2008 09:46

you should start at 37 weeks I think, one cup and build it up to 3. You can feel the baby kicking almost immediately after drinking the tea. It didn't work for me thou, I was late by 2 weeks. But I started drinking it too late and probably drank too much of it. However, the active labor was fast (2 hours).

I used the tea twice a day from 30weeks with DS no 2. Worked a treat for me, although he was 4 days late labour was 6 hours and a relatively easy birth. Compare that to induction, 24 hour labour and forceps with DS no 1 and it was a walk in the park

porkpie · 03/10/2008 16:28

I had one or two cups a day from about 30 weeks, I bought the loose leaves from Neal's Yard. Of course it's impossible to know how much it really helped, but I did have a very quick labour and it was my first baby. Arrived at hospital at 8am and 3cms, ds born at 11am.

I have stocked up on the tea but not taken it yet as only 29 weeks. am goin to give it a try as with my first i was 19 hours contractions and then hour and half pushing, because i was pushing for so long, there were complications. All was fine in end but hoping i can get this one out easier!! Lets hope the tea works!

Amanda1977 · 06/12/2008 16:53

I drank 2 - 3 cups of tea a day from 37 weeks and baby arrived 2 weeks early in less than 4 hrs! Contractions were intense and fast. Midwives believe it was the tea and that they are hearing more and more cases of speedy labour thanks to the tea so certainly worth a try I'd say!

hayleyv · 11/12/2008 14:41

didn't work for me!!!

Drank the tea and took the tablets religiously from about 32 weeks and had really high hopes!....37 hour labour and shoulder dystocia!!

diamondpony20008 · 26/09/2009 10:22

hi i was just wondering if u drink the tea too early like at 27 weeks would it do any harm to the baby or would it affect myself in anyway

MiniMilk0610 · 26/09/2009 10:29

I stocked up on this last week been told to take it from 32 weeks, starting with 1 cup/tablet a day working up to 4. Didn't get round to taking it with DD1 and had the most horrendously long labour, ending with forceps coz 2 hours+ of pushing didn't get her out! So hoping it has good effects this time round!!

ramers · 07/10/2009 17:58

Be careful with this - I spoke to my Midwife about it and she said that there isn't a lot written about the dangers. You can start taking it from about 30 weeks slowly building up from a cup a day but stop if you start getting an increase in Braxton Hicks. Also not advised if you have had a previous c section.

Murtette · 07/10/2009 22:30

I'm 39 weeks and my m/w told me today to drink two cups of it a day until EDD and then increase it to 3 cups a day. No idea what the "dose" should be before this stage I'm afraid.

newbie1976 · 26/04/2011 15:02

Hi, I am 29 weeks and have been taking rasberry leaf tea for last week or so (I thought it was fine in last trimester). I am now getting strong braxton hicks. Should I stop taking it?

lilly13 · 26/04/2011 21:00

My consultant told me not to start until 37 weeks and have no more than 2 cups per day or 1 pill (400mg)... However, I read the internet and decided that it won't hurt to start from 34-35 weeks and got Braxton hicks, and then stopped... be careful -- I think everyone's body reacts differently...

amyw1990 · 13/05/2011 10:51

where do u buy this from? the tea laf on tesco is only 50% with other ingredients? and the tablets?

thell · 13/05/2011 11:49

Last time I bought some from Holland & Barrett and wasn't keen on the flavour. This time I've got the Heath & Heather tea bags, which are much fruitier tasting - I got them from another health shop.

I've also been warned to build up from one cup a day to four over about a week or so, so that it's not too sudden.
