as even though I've done this before I can't remember. I'm only 33 weeks, but I can feel a lot of pressure on my cervix and everything is very heavy down there. I remember that happening quite close to the end last time, but isn't it true that second babies can engage and unengage a couple of times before they go positioned properly?

Oh, and I've been nesting for a couple of weeks already. My labour bag is packed. The clothes etc. are all laid out ready. I suppose that I'm partly scared, and partly hopeful that I don't have another 9 weeks.

i'm in the same boat as you mrs...i'm 31 weeks and have a slight fear/wish that the baby is engaged and that i'm headed for early labour.

How early babies engage has no bearing on when they're born. 1st babies often engage very early and stay engaged. 2nd babies engage a little later, but tend to stay there unless you spend a lot of time slouching in an awkward position for them. 3rd+ babies tend to engage very late, and will sometimes pop in and out. Nesting can also happen at any time. Try not to worry too much!

I can't decide if I'm reassured or disappointed! I certainly am not going to enjoy another month or two of trying to push DD1's pushchair with a baby's head wedged between my legs. Better for DD2 to stay put for a while though...

Does this mean that my chances of getting DD2 to turn from OP are scuppered now? I really do think that I have a pelvis that won't let babies lie in an anterior position.

Hi, I would suggest since you have that heavy feeling down there to rest a lot! I felt the same at 32wks and when my doctor checked me from inside she found out I was opening! So I was ordered stricted bed rest plus took magnezium for a month. That slowed things down. Be careful because it would be still too early for baby to come out. Take care.

Don't wish for the baby so soon - I'm sure it would need to go to SCBU this early - keep your legs crossd until at least 37 weeks - good luck!

This baby has played a really fun game engaging and unegaging since about 32 weeks. I am now 39 weeks and for the last 4 weeks or so she goes from fully mobile to pretty much fully engaged (as far as I can tell) every day. I wake up and bump is high and can walk fine then over the course of the day she gradually works her way back down with all the associated pain til she is right down there and I cant walk places.

Its really fun (or not lol). Needless to say Im 39 weeks and shes still there - but people have been concerned about how low my bump looks in the evenings every day for weeks!

I'm glad really that I'm not about to be rushed to hospital, I would be terrified about DD's safety. Plus I would have to deliver in the CLU and not the lovely birthing centre that have accepted me.
But I can't face the thought of another 9 weeks of this. Every time I get up from sitting it feels like my insides are going to fall out. Was it this bad last time? Perhaps I've blanked it out...
