Am due on 18 Nov, my first had emergency C section, then I have made up my mind will probably go for elective CS, i have heard that you get CS normally earlier than your Due date, how much early?

Can you also share your exp ?

Both of mine were elective (dd1 breech and dd2 transverse)

dd1 was booked for 39+3 as I also had a ecv at 38 weeks to try and turn her, wanted to see if she'd turn herself but she didnt

dd2 was 38+3 but I'd been bleeding on and off since 35 weeks so nearly had her at 35+4, 37, & 37+5 so consulatant booked it for 38+3 (he tried to book it for 38weeks but then realised it was new years day!!)

Both of mine were good experiences, calm and reassuring, spinal block took ages the 1st time as I couldnt get into right position, 2nd time I didnt even realsie he'd done it till he told me to lay down. The only thing I suffered with was alot of trapped wind teh 2nd time which was uncomfortable (they gave me peppermint water to help)

Not having anymore dc but if I did I'd def do elective again

Thanks ladies for the kind advice, Polly and Kyme, congrad on the birth of your lovely girls. am expecting a girl too!

Went down to Manchester to visit DS on Sat, he's in Manchester with his granddad, where DH is originally from. It's always lovely to visit him.

Sometimes, I would still worry alot. I have a question in my head and i will def ask my midwife next time i see her. You know when you say you would usually have elective CS btw 38-39wks right, but I mean nobody knows when a woman goes into labour, what if you book at 39weeks and you suddenly go into labour a week earlier? I have a lot of worries. Did you worry about that?

I didn't worry about going into labour before 39 weeks - I didn't even pack the bag until the night before. But then both my others had been born at 41w plus so I presumed it would be very unlikely and I certainly had no signs of anything happening eg braxton hicks. If you do go into labour, you just go straight into hospital and they give you an cs (if that's what you still want, you might I suppose feel like going for a vbac at the last minute). It's technically an "emergency" but I don't think it would feel that way as you wouldn't be going through full labour and there wouldn't be the same rush.
I did have loads of other worries though... pregnancy is always an anxious time, especially so in your case I should think.

hi i was assured that if for any reason i went into labour before my booked csection date to either call my midwife or go straight to the hospital and that id go in for an emergency c-section..
