allgonebellyup...why would Juuule not be for real? Because she produced 8 children in somehting like 16 years? Obviously large families aren't the norm, but it isn't impossible....hat up to Juuule though...I do not know how you cope...I find my 3 hard to cope with, lol...(my nan gave Birth to 13 children, and she raised 11 of those....1 died and 1 stayed with her grandparents when they fled in the war....)!

As for Op's question:
I don't think there is an ideal agegap...we had 6 1/2 years between es and ms and then 21m between ms and ys....the closer age gap was hard work and still is at times, and in hindsight I may have gone for a slightly bigger agegap, but hohum...!
But your Baby is still very young, so, you might want to give it some more time, as I found that I was always broody after having a Baby...I suppose the hormones are to blame....however, you got to do what feels right for you!

DS1 was 3yrs 4mth when DS2 was born - he's totally in love with him and old enough to be able to help out too - but still young enough to have a nap which helps .

Just come back to this thread.
I'm not sure which bit allgonebellyup finds unreal, either.

Stats for anyone interested.
I had my first at 27y and my 9th at 43y9m.
8 m/cs in there, too.
16y between first and last.

I have known people in rl with children 10m and 12m age difference. And I'm sure I've seen people on here with very small age gaps between children.
So, as I said not sure why unreal.

3andnomore · 19/07/2008 17:04

indeed it's 9 not 8....lol....because you were talking in agegaps....

I know someone who had less then a year of agegap, too...she fell pregnant a few weeks after her 1rst dc's birth

fledtoscotland · 19/07/2008 19:36

DS is 10months old and this bump is due in 5 weeks

yes i am insane etc etc and I am looking forward to it

Ate · 20/07/2008 13:46

Same here I have a 6yo a 3yo a 6mo and one due in under 6 months.

I don't know that there is and ideal gap TBH. Children vary, parents vary! Who's to say? All kinds of family with all sorts of dynamics work

rapunzelle · 20/07/2008 20:41

I have girl just 5yrs boy 3.5 yrs and baby 5 months. The 18 month gap worked for us because my daughter was so fiercely independent. The larger gap before no 3 is indicative of how long I spent talking my husband into having another!

PS Can't bring myself to do the whole ds/dd thing. Just assume that I love my children without the prefix

umberella · 20/07/2008 21:01

juule - now it makes sense - i read your post as in ages of your dc, but now I realise it was the gaps in between!

me, my db and dsis have about 2.5 yrs between us all. my poor mother!!
