Has anyone laboured in the bath? Planing 2nd homebirth, first 2 labours were in a birth pool but not sure I can be bothered with it all this time...

does a bath work as well?

I always just float on my back, I don't kneel or anyhing.

Plus I will be getting out to push.

I do have the birth pool in the attic but its a PITA isn't it?

Bath is unlikely to work as well unless you have an incredibly deep one. You need to have the water fully covering the bump, really. Also you are not as mobile in a bath, lack of space, not as much water so less 'bouyancy'.

If you've already got the pool, I would use it. Although with a third baby you might not get the chance

What does that mean!?

Do you think it will be fast? (please God let it be fast!)

Firts 2 labours were 5 hours each.

Well, it's unlikely to be a lot longer than your other two. The speed of your other labours might well have been influenced by the relaxation of being in the pool. A bath is nice in early labour but not quite the same once things are properly established, ime. Get the pool out

Yea, suppose I'll have to..

so much bloody work though

Litterbug sounds to me that you do not really want the bother of getting the pool out you are having a home birth so you sound like the relaxed type of person your third is likely to be faster an from my own experiece less painful probably because you are used to it.

If you feel confident in your own ability to cope without it then do not bother if not then up to the loft you go.

In all honesty I don't think I could labour on dry land!

I remember last time I was in labour I was itching to get in the pool, couldn't wait for it to be ready!
