Third child -what weight were they?

Following on from the other third labour thread I wondered how much did your third child weigh in comparison to your first 2. I have had 2 dc;

1st
9lb 1oz, induced, 27 hrs and ventouse as he was distressed, episiotomy, tore anyway

2nd
9lb 15 1/2oz, spontaneous labour, 12 hrs, baby got stuck, forceps, 3rd degree tear, still having problem 'down there' 8 months afterwards.

I'd like a 3rd but my husband thinks we'll have a baby elephant next!
I seem to grow big baby?s I just can?t deliver. ( I would like a c-section but not sure this would be allowed?)

Was your 3rd bigger/smaller than your other 2?

Got bigger.

1st(boy) 6 11
2nd(girl) 7 10
3rd(boy) 8 4

You're right elastic woman, I was aneamic also and very tired. I had growth scans throughout and they told me at 20 weeks they would induce me at 38 weeks if I were to still be carrying a large baby. I was and they didn't induce as they changed their mind. I have really lost faith in the system. (still having probelms now so 6 weeks after a section doesn't seem so bad. I know I shouldn't say that but hey, can't help what you think.)

ds1 - 6lbs 4 (3 days late)
ds2 - 9lbs 3 (5 days early)
ds3 - 8lbs 3 (2 days late)

I too was concerned about the weight of my third as ds2 was nearly 3lbs heavier than ds1.

btw, this 6 weeks no lifting/no driving thing after a cs is not necessarily case. I don't know anyone whose had to wait 6 weeks to drive, most insurance companies let you when a medical professional tells you that you can which is usually far sooner (eg 3 weeks). Ditto lifting, in my experience and that of my friends, it's more like two weeks.
Not a great flag waver for sections, I'd much rather have had normal deliveries, but I do get a bit irked by the misinformation that seems to go out about them.

Elasticwoman · 03/07/2008 21:22

Muppet - I would not have wanted an induction before due date. My cousin had one 2 weeks early (due to waters breaking) and suffered ruptured uterus resulting in major surgery twice in the week after her baby was born.

Elasticwoman · 03/07/2008 21:25

Polly - the fact that medics and insurance cos have relaxed the rules about no lifting and no driving probably has more to do with the increased numbers of women who have cs and put pressure them to allow it, rather than what is medically in their best interests. Immediate practicalities overtake risks of possible harm.

I've only had 1 so far but I was 8 12, DB 9 15 and DB2 the runt of the litter at 8 3, so 3rd was smallest.
Lucky me, DS was the smallest baby in our family since my Dad - 8 cousins included [smug]!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 03/07/2008 21:55

8lb 6
9lb 8
10lb

All late although the last one not as late as the others. Plus she was very quick!

unknownrebelbang · 03/07/2008 23:58

DS1 8 lb 5 1/2 - 3 weeks early

DS2 10 lb 14 - 1 day overdue

DS3 10 lb 6 - 2 weeks early.

gigglewitch · 04/07/2008 00:03

mine went down 1 lb each time

ds1 8lb 8oz - EDD
ds2 7lb 8oz - 2 days early
dd 6lb 8oz - three weeks 1 day early

gigglewitch · 04/07/2008 00:04

REbel they are big

cazboldy · 04/07/2008 00:05

ds1 6lbs 8oz
dd1 7lbs 2oz
ds2 6lbs 12 oz
ds3 7lbs 9oz
dd2 6lbs 14 oz

so the next one should be 7 something

not that there is going to be a next one

DS1 - 7lb 3oz (12 days early)
DS2 - 7lb 11oz (2 days early)
DS3 - 7lb 6oz (also 12 days early)

phraedd · 04/07/2008 16:11

DD - 8lb 15 oz (came the date she was due)
DS1 - 9lb 15 oz (8 days early thankfully!)
DS2 - 9lb 4oz (6 days early)

stiches with my daughter but none with either of the boys (not sure that i should say that though - hardly flattering is it?)

sweetkitty · 04/07/2008 16:16

Why am I still reading these third labour threads?

DD1 6lbs 3ozs (15 days early) second degree tear due to presentation not size
DD2 9lbs 3ozs (12 days later) no tears

DD3 (t-6 days) ? but if one more person says 12lbs 3ozs I will scream

1 - 8lbs 1oz
2 - 8lbs 1oz
3 - 8lbs 2oz

nothing if not consistent!

laidbackinengland · 04/07/2008 17:57

DS1 8lb 4
DS2 10lb 4
DS3 8lb 8

All Vb's

Evenstar · 05/07/2008 06:18

DS1 9lbs 13 and a half oz - forceps
DD 10lbs 11oz - ventouse in theatre prepped for emergency c-section after 9cm dilation for 2 hours -shoulder dystocia
DS2 9lbs 4oz - attempted induction at 38 weeks emergency c-section for failure to progress.

Delivered DD by the normal route despite problems so size is not always the main criteria.
