Uterine hyperstimulation- anyone?

Hi all,

Currently pregnant with my 2nd and trying to decide on the birth plan.

My last birth was very traumatic in that i went into spontaneous uterine hyperstimulation at home (without any induction). It meant my contractions lasted over 2 minutes and were on top of each other without any breaks. The midwives did not realise and I was in excruciating horrific pain and without any breaks between contractions, I had no ability to speak and communicate what was happening. The anaesthetist couldn't get an epidural in. When they finally did put a ctg on me they realised what was happening around nearly 4 hours after being at the hospital and the doctors rushed in to give me medication to slow contractions. But there was recurrent fetal distress and so taken for an emergency c section and told id have to be under a general anaesthetic. In the end they managed to do a spinal and avoid general. I was fine and baby qas fine in the end, minus several months of feeding issues - again despite repeatedly explaining my concerns before discharge.

Not being mentally prepared for a c section meant not being mentally prepared for the post-op pain and limited abilities after. I'd prefer a vaginal delivery but naturally worried in cause this happens again or i have a complication auch as a uterine rupture.

Are there any women here who have experience uterine hyperstimulation without induction? I've searched the whole Internet and cannot find any. It would be nice to find some other ladies who can relate and share experiences. Thank you

My friend did in her first birth, but the following two were fine. I did in my second, but I was induced so it is a potential outcome. They just said to have a non drugs based induction if I needed another.

That sounds very scary. 💐
My hyper stimulation was caused by induction in my first birth and like you they didn't do anything for hours. It was only when they examined me and realised I was 10cm that they started to believe me.
My second birth I did need to be induced for medical reasons so I was told that they'd try the balloon induction as this was much less to cause hyper stimulation. Unfortunately it did absolutely nothing so I ended up with hormonal methods which again caused the hyper stimulation. However, due to my previous history, the midwife took me to delivery at 2cm and got me an epidural very quickly.
I don't know how this compares to natural hyper stimulation but hopefully you will get much better treatment this time if you do for for a vaginal birth.
