Period whilst breastfeeding

So I’m now 9 weeks postpartum of a c section and have exclusively breastfed my baby the entire time. I’ve heard that when you exclusively breastfeed you don’t get a period - however, yesterday I came on my period. It’s not heavy and it’s not hideous, don’t really have any tummy cramping but am bleeding. Did anyone else who exclusively breastfed experience the same or is it just me?!

I got my period after 6 weeks! I’ve not actually met anyone who didn’t get their period when breastfeeding. All my NCT pals got their period within three months.

Yes I got mine around the 3 month mark. I breastfed for about a year with both babies.

That is a myth. You definitely get your period when breastfeeding and you can be fertile and get pregnant. Happened to me & everyone I know who breastfed.
I hope you have birth control sorted. If not, you might be like my mum and have two babies in 12 months.

Unfortunately yes, both times within a couple of months of giving birth and like clockwork every month thereafter!

Def possible! I didn’t - at all. Went two years after giving birth the first time, and 22 months the second. Both times my period didn’t come back until I’d fully stopped breastfeeding.

Was quite odd! I also physically couldn’t orgasm, so my hormones were clearly just dead 🙄

I didnt get mine back till DC were over a year old. They started when night feeds reduced, bit earlier second time around as second baby slept more. I breastfed for 2 years with both DC and had regular periods while BF but not till they were between 1 and 18 months old.

About 6 weeks after my 1st. 14months after 2nd!

Oh how interesting. My kids are teens how but I breastfeed them for around a year each, (and solids from 6 months) and I didn’t get my period until right at the end. When I was down to about one feed a day. I didn’t make sure I died contraception though!

Yes normal for your period to come back but also normal if it doesn't. Mine didn't come back until 16 months PP when I EBF.

Both times mine came back around 12 weeks. I also got pregnant with my second while still breastfeeding the first.
