i was packed half way through pregnancy i think so i could make sure i had everything and then could double check ha ha

you never know what may happen so i think best to be prepared as any special things you may want to take might get forgotten if you have to pack in a rush

lets hope it wont come to that but i think maybe now would be good time then its done and you'll have all that you want and need

springerspaniel · 30/06/2008 18:23

My book says 36 weeks. For pregnancy number 1, I did it at about 33 weeks as I was too excited. This time only just done it at 39 weeks!

dizzydixies · 30/06/2008 18:26

for dd1 I did it on the day I was going in as I was being induced - was my due date though

dd2 I did it at about 38wks I think

haven't packed it this time either and am due 30th july - I think I have the stuff ready but its all over the farking place

write a list - its a good place to start at least and then if you DO need it earlier than expected said list can be handed to dh for packing

sfxmum · 30/06/2008 18:32

I sort of packed at about 36wks as in got the bag put a few items in with a checklist on top
made sure I had everything I needed, or thought I needed then packed proper a couple of days before due day

daisy26 · 30/06/2008 18:32

well i have a consultant appointment next week so see what he saya about my baby, then i suppose ill pack in that week, just so I am prepared and ready

Daisy, I'm due the day before you and I've been wondering the same thing! I've made a list and have bought most of the things on it that I don't have, but haven't actually packed a bag yet. I want to get it done soon though, so it's one less thing to think about...
Good luck with your August baby!

cheesesarnie · 01/07/2008 12:55

i packed fairly early as kept going into premature labour with 2nd and 3rd from 30 weeks with both.luckily both held on till 37 weeks.plus i was all excited and wanted to pack

daisy26 · 01/07/2008 17:00

cheerful vicky-well ive wrote a list today, think i have most things, in one of my books says bt essential unscented massage oil, anyone know what u get,do you really need it.Yeh i wanna pack just so I have summit ready. When you bring summit for the baby, mean agust could be warm could be cold. So do you bring just a sleepsuit, a dress, or a trousers, top, coat etc for your baby? what im a bit confused about

cheesesarnie · 01/07/2008 20:56

cant go wrong with vest, babygrow, cardie, blanket, hat and mittens.layers can be added or removed-itll get puked on anyway

whomovedmychocolate · 01/07/2008 20:58

Packing is overrated. I quite enjoy the alfresco approach of having your stuff delivered by a knackered looking DH clutching six carrier bags of stuff he's just rushed round buying

macaco · 02/07/2008 08:41

PACK NOW! I was planning on doing mine at around 36 or 37 weeks as I reckoned DS as a 1st baby would probably be a bit late and got the shock of my life by going into (a very speedy labour (11 hours from first twinge to giving birth) with no bag packed. Ended up doubled over in the hall grunting instructions through contractions to Mum and DH for what to pack. Any more pregnancies and I'll be packed from about 24 weeks

I packed from around 34 weeks and then unpacked and then packed and then unpacked ! I was so excited and loved packing my bag.

cmotdibbler · 02/07/2008 11:55

I didn't. Thats why when DS arrived at 35 weeks, DH brought me in a pair of non maternity, size smaller than I was wearing pre pg (heaven only knows why it went looking in my 'too small' drawer) joggers to wear. He also had to go out and buy baby clothes for DS as all ours were way too big.

I went in in what I was wearing plus a nightie and couple of books I'd grabbed whilst waiting for someone to take me to hospital when my waters broke.

I'd pack now

Notanexcitingname · 02/07/2008 12:24

For balance, I packed after I'd been in labour for 35 hours. It wasn't very effective; I only took one nappy, one babygro, and no clothes for me.

Transferred homebirth, hence lack of preparation!

daisy26 · 02/07/2008 15:21

I was in town today and are like big sanitary knickers worth taking to hospital, they be more useful than just large normal sanitary pads. Think Im goin to pack this week, and leave it to the side, so I am prepared hehe

I'm due 13th August and have just packed (34 weeks). For no other reason than I can because I had everything I needed and it's better to have it on hand should I need to go in early....

Good luck. Keep in touch with how it goes.

daisy26 · 02/07/2008 15:34

thankyou and good luck to you to think I have got most stuff hehe-is anybody or does people take unscented massage oils, says about it in my book,in the list of things to take
