Has anyone had burst internal stitches after a caserean? What was the symptoms and how did it heal? I have a feeling this has happened to me. I have an appointment with the hospital in a couple of weeks.

A friend of mine did and she nearly died from the blood loss and very sadly lost her baby too (she was 6 months pregnant).

simba1, i 'popped' an internal stitch at about 4 or 5 weeks lifting DS's carry cot onto the pram wheels so much for not doing heavy lifting!
Felt a pain and then a lump - was sort of obvious bursting feeling IYKWIM.
Went to GP that afternoon and she said this sometimes happens - they don't like to open the scar and re-stitch unless essential to do so, so she recommended just waiting and monitoring it. Sure enough, the lump (which was about a walnut size i think) gradually disappeared and is now fine (DS is 18 mths)
Mine was obviously not life threatening, but perhaps go to your GP sooner just to be sure? Couple of weeks is a long time to wait! good luck

I know two people this has happened too, but they had extreme symptomms/effects- like mum2babyroo's friend. I hope yours is more like chocbutton.[smiile] two weeks seems like a long time to me, too.

I did the same as chocbutton - digging the garden three weeks post partum. Hurt like hell. Am pregnant again and the scar has never settled since .

I also burst some internal stitches from a laporoscopy and hysteroscopy which I had the month before I conceived DD - I thought I had appendicitis and rushed to hospital. No last effects though.
