Bleeding after a c section

Probably stupid question but not one I know the answer too and would like to! After a c section, how soon do you start bleeding down below? I know its immediately with a normal birth because you have pushed out the baby - but what about when they have taken it out the sun roof! Also - where do they get the placenta out etc? Sorry to be blonde - just wondering!

Placenta comes out when you have the section. Yes, you still have the normal bleeding after a csection though. I've had 2 c-sections. The bleeding lasted usual time by all accounts (2-3 weeks on and off I think)

but how soon after the op did you start bleeding?

They put pads there straight away so I presume you bleed as soon as the baby and placenta are out. The midwives changed the pads for the first 6 hours or so while the spinal wore off and gave me a wash. Until you're up they out pads between your legs and you lie on a disposable mat. As soon as I was up and about I put them in my huge post-cs knickers. The midwife asks you to report back on the 'loss' everytime you gets your meds. It's a fascinating topic of conversation!

It would be straightaway, wouldn't it? Once the placenta is out, you're going to bleed (that's the sophisticated medical explanation, obviously).
