VBAC / Repeat Section / Rupture worries

Hi all, just looking for some advice/experiences really!

I’m pregnant with my second and there’s a 19-month gap between pregnancies. I had an elective C-section with my first.

This time I thought I’d like to try for a natural birth and basically see if I go into labour on my own. I’ve been really clear I don’t want to be induced, so the plan was to book a C-section for around 41 weeks (or earlier if I want) and just see what happens before then.

I was completely fine with this plan and actually quite excited to try for a vaginal birth, but now I keep reading awful stories about uterine rupture and I’m starting to freak myself out 🙈 I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore.

Part of me just thinks get the baby out safely with a planned section and I’ll take the hit of the recovery with a toddler. But then another part of me really wants to try naturally if my body goes into labour on its own.

I know I probably need to stop reading horror stories 😂 but the rupture stuff is really scaring me. Has anyone else been in the same position? What did you decide in the end? Would love to hear both VBAC and repeat section experiences!

I can’t comment on VBACs, but just to say the C section recovery with a toddler was fine for me (times two: I had a 2.5 year old the first time, and 2 yrs and 9 months old plus 5 year old the shrine time).
