my daughter is nearly turning 2 and I swore blind I don’t want anymore child as I always thought 1 was enough. However I’m starting to have those baby thoughts! I don’t even know why. However i had a very traumatic childbirth and nearly died through hemorrhage. I lost 2.5lr through a retained placenta. It does still haunt sometimes and I think about it. I also had a rough pregnancy. So im not sure I’m even suitable and safe to have another child. Is anyone else had a similar experience and went on to have another?

My first birth had shoulder dystocia and I was terrified of that happening again it. We did have child no2 and I was consultant led so they planned for another SD birth but the experience was completely different. Does your local health board offer an option to review your maternity notes and discuss them with you. That may be worth looking into as it’s so helpful to chat through.

You have a happy and healthy child. How do you feel about her potentially growing up without a mum just because you tried for a sibling? You almost lost your life last time. What if you don’t get so lucky next time? You spent most of your last pregnancy unwell. How will you do that again with a child to care for, a job to go to and a house to run?
