When nothing goes to plan!

Looking for a bit of a handhold and some advice!

Im due in for a section tomorrow, baby is small and consultant is concerned.

I had this lovely evening planned in my head, our last as a family of 3 as I have DS aged 2.

since I picked DS up from the childminder at 5, he’s had a huge nosebleed, has been very snotty and coughing and since 19.30 has been vomiting like something out of the exorcist.

obviously I’m hormonal so I’m very tearful and upset nothing has gone to plan tonight, I’m upset to be leaving DS tomorrow for 24+ hours when he’s unwell and I’m gutted he won’t be able to come and see us in the hospital.

however I’m also concerned because he clearly has a bug and I’m about to go into a ward full of women who have just given birth. If I was having an elective section I’d be calling up to see if they’d like it postponed but as I’m having one du le to concerns with the baby, I’m so worried as to what to do!

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Ah bless him, it’s horrible when they are poorly at the best of times, let alone at a moment like this! I’d be upset too 😢

I’d probably ring labour ward to let them know. It sounds like they’ll want to go ahead anyway if there’s concerns about baby, but it might affect the planning from their end.

Wishing you all the best for the section OP, hopefully in just a couple of days your DS will be on the mend and you’ll be back home as a family of four!

Thank you for your replies 🥰 I spoke to triage and they told me to still come in as they’d get me a side room.

our DS2 was born today… weighing a “small” 8lbs!!!! We’re both doing great and I’m proud to say he’s latched so well xxx

Finally got discharged this evening and our darling toddler is full of cough and cold 😢 he’s currently hiding in the bedroom as I think he’s a bit unsure of his new sibling 💙
