Anyone here had a VBAC after 2 ECSs?

Hi there,
We are thinking about TTC #3 and I have always hoped for a chance at "natural" labour & if possible birth, however unfortunately so far have had 2 emergency c-sections due to pre-eclampsia. My consultant thinks PE will be unlikely to rear it's head again as we have better ideas for medication so I may this time make it to term and possibly get a chance of going for a VBAC.

Has anyone had a successful VBAC after 2 previous ECSs? My consultant would not induce me except possibly a membrane sweep due to risks of uterine rupture and she said although she'd let me have a shot at natural birth if my baby's and my health allowed it she was not overly optimistic. My last c-section was a year ago and we're not planning to TTC until Sept. earliest...

Any experiences/tips most welcome. Thanks xx

Have you had a look at the NICE guidelines on CS? (not sure if that's the most relevant link or not).

After two ECSs, this time out I am almost certain I will be opting for an elective so I really admire you. I should think your chances of a VBAC should be pretty high if you don't get pre-eclampsia - and if you have lots of support. Might be worth considering having a doula too as read somewhere (I think in the NICE guidelines last time round) that statistically chances of VBAC are raised if you have a female birthing partner.

Thanks Warmfuzzy I had thought about a doula but there don't seem to be many (if any) over here (NI) plus finances will be v tight....

I'm just going to keep an open mind- last time I really wanted a VBAC but there was absolutely no chance of one and I was quite gutted, next time if things don't look like they'll go that way I will be more prepared for that. I mean everyone says I'm not missing out on much by not having had a natural labour or birth but I would like the opportunity for some strange reason!!

Have you seen this thread today? lackaDAISYcal gives a link to a previous VBAC thread with LOADS of info.

After spending most of last pregnancy fighting to be allowed on to the midwife-led, non-interventionist, 'home-from-home' side of my hospital only to wind up with another looooooong 'natural' labour followed by another ECS, I'm quite looking forward to choosing a birthday for number 3. I really appreciated being given the opportunity to try for a VBAC but this time round I am SURE that 'natural' births aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Bet someone comes along to tell me that they are...
