Just had a membrane sweep & I have a favorable cervix??????

Hi,

I must sounds so stupid but I had loads of heavy regular contractions last night which went for a couple of hours then it all stopped..............................midwifed popped round about an hour ago and gave me a m/sweep and said I was 2cm dilated but then changed to 3/4cm after sweep and that I have a favorable cervix??? Ok I'm totally lost what the hell does this all meanall I want is for the baby to appear Hot curry, pinapple and sex is going on later. SOmeone please help

It means good things - that your body is gradually readying itself for labour- but never any guarantees.

First of all relax. I don't know what the going from 2 to 3/4 cm means but don't worry. Sounds like things could be starting up. But I also konw someone that was 4cm for 3 weeks before she went into labor.
First are you drinking enough water. When pregnant with ds2 I would get strong regular contractions for a few hours every night. Found out that it was probably due to dehydration and once I started drinking more water they stopped coming.
Second it sounds like things will happen for you soon, just relax and don't worry about it.
Babies are born on their birthday not their due date, so relax and enjoy rest of your pregnancy.
