I am due 13th November. I have a 3 year old, whose birthday is 20th November. For context, he was due 6th Nov, I went to 41+5 with no signs of labour, went for an induction that lasted 3 days and ended in an emcs.

My plan for #2 was to wait it out and see if I go into labour naturally, and if not, to go straight to a c section at 41w. However, thanks to my impeccable timing, this would be my sons birthday 😅

I'm just trying to think through what to do for the best, for both myseld and my son, and just wondering what others would do in this situation. All opinions appreciated :)

Do his birthday a different day he won't know any different

I’m due on 3rd October, my 8yo bday is 12th October. I was a little worried at first but realised there’s nothing I can do about it, they might be a little upset that their birthday has been overshadowed but if I was to have my baby on my daughters birthday I’d make sure I do something special for her on a different day

There's no guarantee you would even have the C-section at 41+0 exactly. When/If it gets booked in closer to the time just say any day except this one.

Hopefully DC2 won't then take it into their head to make an appearance on their brother's birthday.

Either way, you have ages before you need to worry about it.

He will be four op! He won’t really know any different if you move the date and celebrate earlier! And most likely he won’t remember it either! So have it a lot earlier while you still have energy. You have official Mumsnet viper permission to do what is best for you in this situation! 😄. Your little boy wants a calm, rested, happy mum with whom he can enjoy his birthday, not a stressed out exhausted one. So keep it simple and try not to stress and enjoy your pregnancy too as far as possible 💐

I’d just have the section at 39 weeks tbh

What about every other year…? You’re right there’s nothing to be done about it for you, but it’s not just a one off problem.

OP if you think you might want to go ahead with a c-section anyway, I’d be tempted to just plan it ahead for 40 weeks. It’s just one more unknown you don’t need.

I don’t actually know anyone who has gone for a VBAC and I know a lot of women who had c-sections. They’ve all loved their orderly planned second births after stressful first ones.

Oh gawd, sorry, see I have entirely missed the point 🙈 read your op too quickly, apologies!

I still don’t think you need to worry though op! The second one most likely will come a bit earlier won’t it? And even if they share a birthday, would it be so bad? Sharing the day would probably be better than having one birthday followed by another a couple of days later?

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
