For anyone considering private hospital in London.....

I can really recommend the Lindo Wing (private wing of St Mary's Paddington)

This isn't intended to be a thread about NHS vs Private (although I now have experience of both) or cause any bunfights but just thought I could share a recent experience for anyone considering private option.

We opted for Lindo after many recommendations. I found the facilities absolutely fine, not 5* hotel but certainly not vastly different to The Portland (where I had an operation in the recent past). The care was exceptional and yes, it should be for the price! From the moment we arrived to us leaving I could not fault it.
My pre and post-natal care was exceptionally 'caring'. I was made to feel relaxed, unhurried and confident. I liked the post-natal room, not massive but fine and very clean, alledgedly the room Diana gave birth to William but they prolly tell everyone that!

Staff were only too happy to help and positively encouraged buzzer pushing to call them to ask for anything from pain relief to a question about latching my new baby on. The staff were experienced and I saw some of the same staff (midwives) on several consecutive days so I didn't end up feeling like a piece of meat on the conveyor belt of their rotas. I did use the nursery at night-time and although it felt a bit odd to do this, I did rest which helped me enormously and get off to a good start with my daughter - a big contrast to my son where I had PND.

I was under TG Teoh who was great. He is very relaxed and this made me relaxed too. I initially tried to book Mr Murphy but the dates didn't tally so tried Mr Teoh, I did this when I was 5 wks pregnant as I am aware they get booked up v. early.

Not much else to add except I have a beautiful daughter, delivered under the auspices of exceptionally caring and experienced staff. It has totally helped me get over the trauma of my first birth which I thought was going to be impossible.

Anyone need to know anything more then am happy to answer questions!

I'm glad your experience was so positive.
