change of hospital

I am 7 months pregnant. I am currently registered with northwick hospital for birth of my child. But I would like to change my hospital. Can I do this?

Yes, a mum in my antenatal class did this. You need to talk to your MW and the hospital you want to go to.

Tell the midwife you want to change and they should sort it all out for you.

I changed hospital when I was pg with ds. I can't remember exactly when, but I know I had the 20 week scan at the first hospital and had him at the other one. Twas so easy and uncomplicated, I can't even remember what was involved. (he's only 2 so if there was any hassle, I would remember )

I'm sure it will be fine.

I had my dd at Northwick Park this January. The care was very good.

Any reason why you want to change?

Thanks everyone. I just want to change it because of its reputation and also there were some bad report in 2008 also. Just worried and thinking of going to queen charlotte hospital.

Since NPH had its full enquiry re 10 maternal deaths the standards are very good. The midwives were brilliant.

You must remember that the majority of those deaths were of women who had flown to Heathrow from outside UK and had had no ante-natal care/no medical notes and serious pre existing medical conditions.

Ask your GP/Midwife for a tour of the delivery suites and wards. All delivery suites have en suite bathrooms and all the latest medical equipment. I had 2 midwives due to shift turn around - they did not leave the delivery room once.

also I've heard that queen charlotte's is full til at least january...

second what hfl said..also report was into incidents that were some years old (ie 3/4 years) so I would imagine times have changed... as hfl can verify.

and if there is anythign that really worried you speak to mw or put particular instructions in your birthplan and grill dp on it so he can speak up for you if you're otherwise engaged.

Queen Charlotte is fantastic. But, I would think you have long since missed your boat at 7 months pregnant.

I have had two kids: one in Epsom (which was okay) and one at Queen Charlotte (which was fab).

I am in the catchment for St. Peters in Chertsey and you couldn't pay me to go there. (But since I'm not pregnant it isn't really an issue)
