C section on Tuesday but no pre opp app

I was given a provisional c section date for Tuesday next week a couple of weeks ago and told that someone would be in touch to arrange a pre op appointment for the day before and only at that appointment would I be told what time my c section would be for.

I had a midwife appointment on Wednesday and asked when I would hear about the pre op appointment and was told ‘today or tomorrow’ but heard nothing. Phoned yesterday and was told would hear yesterday afternoon, still nothing. Phoned this afternoon and told I would hear this afternoon…

Im getting a bit anxious as I assume the dept that deals with appointment bookings won’t be open at the weekend but my pre op should be on Monday! Nobody takes my details when I phone to chase up so I’m a bit anxious I’ve been forgotten about!

Im 39 weeks today so don’t want to risk delaying the c section further.. should I keep phoning? Would you? Or just hope they contact me🥴

our unit does weekend pre-assessment. The appointment would need to be within 3 days of the surgery for the group and save samples to be valid so there's still of time.

Keep chasing!

Mine was on a Saturday and csection on a Monday! They normally do morning and afternoon sessions so they will ask everyone who is due to have theirs in the morning to arrive at the same time (around 7am), or 1pm if its in the afternoon.

There is never a set "time" as things change all the time, emergencies take place etc etc. Best you will get is a morning or pm slot.

Mine was a morning slot and I went first! Got there for 7am, waited for a bit. Went into the room and got changed, met the consultants and nurses. Answered a questionnaire. Listened to the long list of risks. Baby was checked. Signed consent. Final wee/nervous poo! And we were in for 9am. Then by the time everything was set up and the spinal was done, it was 9:30am ish. Baby out at 9:44!

Good luck to you. One big tip is to pack a MUG! Hospital tea tastes so much better out of one.

I had my assessments at the weekend for both my C sections (both C sections were on a Monday).

As above, everyone was told to arrive at the same time for the morning list, and then at a different time for the afternoon list. The order was decided by the operating team once they’d reviewed the patients. I was second both times (supposed to be be first for the first section, but my husband was delayed by sorting out the childcare for our daughter). The babies were born at 11.15 and 12 noon.
