Mine was at 39 weeks exactly.

freakypenguin · 13/06/2008 10:32

yes, mine also at 39 weeks.

hayley2u · 13/06/2008 10:37

39 weeks n a couple of days. quite glad ad f ws week earlir would have ben my birthday lol oh no

VictorianSqualor · 13/06/2008 10:38

They normally do it at 39weeks, unless there is another reason to have the date at another time.
My last one was planned for 38weeks as they wanted him out, but I put it off til 41weeks.

BibiThree · 13/06/2008 10:39

Mine would have been between 37-38 weeks (twins, but as close to term as they think I could have gone. As it turned out, the girls decided they were out of room and elective scheduled for 35 weeks on the nose.

sherbetdipdab · 13/06/2008 10:43

At the hospital I'm booked in with they do it between 38-39 weeks, I'm booked at 38 weeks so if I need to be rescheduled they can do it later that week.
I think most hospitals are 39 weeks though, we were surprised to be booked at 38 weeks.

fannybygaslight · 13/06/2008 10:54

Mine was 38+5..they didnt want to leave it any longer due to the size of him (9lb 14oz)!

AtheneNoctua · 13/06/2008 11:03

Mine was 38 1/2 weeks. They wanted 39 but they waited until 36 weeks before they would let me book it so the 39 week slots were taken and I had to argue to get 38 rather then 40. I live near a crap hospital and if I went into labour and had to call an ambulance, I would have been taken to the nearest hospital. And that was exactly what I wanted to avoid.

Highlander · 13/06/2008 11:20

38+5 DS1

39+1 DS2

minster · 14/06/2008 15:15

They do it at 40 here but I bartered them down to 38+3 to get the consulant I wanted & in order to give me the best chance of avoiding going into labour (36+6 with dd), there was no way I would go post 39.

Klaw · 14/06/2008 15:24

Research says it's better for baby to be born at 39 rather than 38 (less risk of respiratory problems etc), and a fab cons at my local hospital keeps bringing scheduling up at the Labour Ward forum, asking that unless there's a valid medical reason to deliver earlier that everyone remember to schedule elCS for 39+ rather than closer to 38wks.

He also performs a more 'natural' section as per Prof Fisk

chipkid · 14/06/2008 15:48

39 weeks and 5 days! they didn't book me in for it until 37 weeks

GlitterBaby · 15/06/2008 22:07

DD1 at 38 weeks and she was a bit poorly, jaundiced, minor breathing problems and low weight. DD2 at 39 + 3 and she was a bouncing baby, great feeder no problems. May just be coincidence but I would book in as late as possible if I had a third.

Sawyer64 · 15/06/2008 22:12

39 weeks.

eidsvold · 15/06/2008 22:29

dd2 was actually 41 + 3

dd3 was bang on 39 weeks.

OUr hospital's policy was between 38 and 39 weeks.

Flibbertyjibbet · 15/06/2008 22:48

My baby was only discovered to be large and transverse the day before my due date. Which was a Saturday and they don't do electives on a weekend at my hosp.
I was asked 'have you had anything to eat today' and if I hadn't they'd have whipped me in there and then.
No curries or bumpy rides that weekend then as I'd been told if I had any contractions I'd have to come straight in for an emergency sect.
So in my case, 40+2, but only cause the midwives had been feeling my baby's bottom for weeks and saying 'its a small baby and its head is down but not engaged'
Generally though at my hosp they tend to do electives between 38.5 and 39 weeks.

jcscot · 16/06/2008 08:07

Just under 37 wks for me. It was scheduled for 38wks but they brought it forward because I was really suffering.

I'm 32+4 and waiting to be told when they'll do the section this time.

Initial decision made at 35wks, changed at 36wks.

sophiewd · 16/06/2008 08:09

Mine is on Thursday at 38+6 they like to get it as close to 39 weeks as possible on the day when they schedule electives.

kyme · 30/06/2008 06:07

hey im from nz...36weeks+1day and am booked in 6days prior to due date!!

first c-section was done 10days before due date!!

gdluck to all

minster · 30/06/2008 09:35

38+3 & planned for 38+6 this time (dates purely so I could get the consultant I wanted). They like to book people at as close to 39 as possible. My first was at 36+6 - I didn't have breathing problems with either of them.

alittlebitshy · 30/06/2008 09:39

I've been told between 38 and 39. I've gone for 38+4 purely because +5 is a friday, so if it got bumped off the list it wouldn't happen til Monday... I wanted to get as close to 39 as possible , but this seemed the best idea when considering my dates. It is 3 weeks away now. argh.

sophiewd · 30/06/2008 09:41

Good luck all, had mine 11 days ago now and me and baby doing great, recovery has been really good.

alittlebitshy · 30/06/2008 09:43

that's good to hear sophie.

Romy7 · 30/06/2008 09:48

i was all set for normal labour and they decided to do an elective cs the next day - i was 39 + 4 but they decided they didn't want me labouring, so it was 'come back tonight and we'll do you first thing'
at least i didn't have too much time to think about it...

kiltycoldbum · 30/06/2008 09:51

had mine day before due date, was all fine and dandy, he was breech and quite happy where he was i think!
