There is nothing to prove either theory.
It is more common to have larger babies each time, but there was a thread on here not long ago about the weight of people's first and subsequent babies.
Some people had larger some smaller.

VictorianSqualor · 09/06/2008 10:08

FWIW,
DD was prem, so not a good indicator, but DS1 was 8lb 7.5oz, DS2 10lb 3oz, so that blows the 8.3 theory out of the window.

BlueDragonfly · 09/06/2008 10:09

ds1 8lb 1oz
ds2 8lb 14oz
ds3 6lb 11oz

ZoeC · 09/06/2008 10:11

My second was bigger...

dd1 8lb 3.5oz
dd2 9lb 5.5oz

so increase of 1lb 2oz between first and second.

girlandboy · 09/06/2008 10:13

My first was 7lb 6oz
My second was 9lb 13oz

An increase of about 2.5 lbs (didn't want to risk a 3rd!)

VictorianSqualor · 09/06/2008 10:15

Lol girlandboy, I had an increase of about 1 and a half pounds, my last was 10lb 3oz, I reckon I'm mad going for a fourth

Niecie · 09/06/2008 10:15

DS1 6lb 10oz
DS2 9lb

However, I was 10lb 6oz at birth but my younger brother was 9lb 12oz so your theory holds for us.

girlandboy · 09/06/2008 10:23

You're braver than me VictorianSqualor, I couldn't bear the thought of pushing a 12.5lb baby out! OMG that's nearly a stone!!!!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnant · 09/06/2008 10:26

DS1 7lb 15oz
DS2 8lb 10oz

DH was only 4lb something at full term.... and he was a 5th baby! He is a bit bigger now!

lizziemun · 09/06/2008 10:31

No

dd1 9lb 4oz - one week early
dd2 9lb 2oz - one week late.

Disenchanted · 09/06/2008 10:34

2nd - 7lbs 11oz

lollyheart · 09/06/2008 10:34

MintyandTink · 09/06/2008 10:35

flubdub · 09/06/2008 10:37

My first dd was 8lbs 2oz
dd2 was 8lbs 8oz

and my consultant did tell me after dd1 that it was quite likely that any second baby would be bigger.

fourlittlefeet · 09/06/2008 11:46

fourlittlefeet · 09/06/2008 11:46

hope #2 is bigger, #1 was under 6lb!

sambrads · 09/06/2008 11:54

thanks so much ladies i suppose its just what happens happens .

ds was 8lb 4 and i was 10 days over due when he came

i definately think i am alot smaller now than what is with ds but it is a girl this time so maybe thats why??

i have seen ladies that are a size 8 and push out whopping 10lb babies so the size of your bump might have nothing to do with it??
