2nd birth after c section

Hi can anyone tell me if you have to go under consultant 2nd time round if you was c section first time? Im confused! Also can you have epidural after having previous c section?

Up to you - the midwives will ask to refer you but you can tell them to bog off if you like. Yes you can have an epidural but it's better not to because if you can't feel you can't be aware of sensations in your scar which increases the likelihood that (in the rare case that your scar breaks) you wouldn't be aware of it.

Well- my GP didn't mention it... though I haven't had my 1st midwifes appt yet so we'll see.

Of course I have to go under one for my almost nonexistent minor heart problem

I never went near one! Consultants are for people with problems sorry EPPM

You might be offered a consultant. But, I don't think you have to if you don't want to. Can't imagine why having had a section would forbid you from an epidural.

The epidural thing is about recognising signs of a problem athene - there's a specific thread about it live at the minute, but you're right, you will probably be offered one, but it doesn't mean it's a good idea because of the things that go with it

So if the scar were to rupture you wouldn't feel it sort of thing? That makes sense.

yeah spot on Athene -so the only guide to a problem is if the CTG goes tits up -only thing is,babies are very good at compensating for outside stuff during labour -until it's very late on in a process,whereas the mother would probably recognise something was wrong, pain between contractions, that sort of thing
