Bringing on labour - what worked for you?

Hello all,

As I approach my EDD tomorrow I am really interested in what worked for you to bring on labour if you were trying to bring it on...

Did a very hot curry work?
Lots of sex?
Nipple stimulation - and if so, self or partner?
Pineapple?
Walking / lots of moving around?
Raspberry leaf tablets / tea?

I'm hoping sex with my DH will do the trick (so is he!).

O
40 weeks (40+1 tomorrow)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think some people just have longer pregnancies - all of my 4 went into the 42nd week. Sex, curries etc made no difference at all - playing football with DC3 had the almost immediete effect of DC4's waters breaking, though . Good luck - 9 months is such a long time and I know how frustrating it gets towards the end.

Walking - I heard a rumour that walking puts increased pressure on the cervix, which may speed things up.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I tried it and was one week early. Could well have been co-incidence...

2 hour walk,m being scared i'd lost XH's dog, fighting with XH the night before my water went - his bloody old boss was a right twat, wasn't XH@s fault but I was frustrated. anyhow, er, also stood ironing DS's clothes for about 2 hours.

alls I can say thou is baby will come when it's finished cooking

Nothing.

Not curries, not pineapple, not long walks, not driving over cobbles, not nipple twidling, not sex (though apparently oral sex is the best way - apparently if you swallow it works better...)

Sorry!

A damned good rogering and a Lamb Vindaloo.

clarry sage oil. A few drops added to a base oil (can even be sunflower/veg that you would have in the kitchen) rubbed into bump and back twice a day.

I walked like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever every day in an attempt to sort of dislodge her.......and my baby was 11 days late. And I looked ridiculous

DC1 - sex (38 weeks)
DC2 - walking, scrubbing floor on all fours (39 weeks)
DC3 - 4 hours stood ironing followed by a whole small lobster to myself - went into labour within 4 hours. (37 weeks)
