How long was your early labour stage?

I started having contractions yesterday, and I've now had a full 18 hours of painful contractions, ranging between every 5 minutes to every 20 minutes. It's so painful I've been throwing up, I'm exhausted and I'm really feeling like I can't do this.

I went to triage at one point but was only 1cm dilated so just got sent home.

I didn't think it would go on this long. Am I doing something wrong?? Is this normal?

7 days for me and then needed an induction to actually speed things along. Good luck!

24 hours from first contraction. But I don't really see the difference between early labour and labour. You can do this! Conserve your energy. Think of this as just say 1, so you don't feel disappointed if nothing happens today. It's a marathon and a mental test. Have you gone to hospital? They can give you anti nausea injections. You've got this mama!

Thank you! 🥰 Yes, in the end I went through almost 48 hours of labour, but thankfully came away with a healthy baby after all that! It was a long process but worth it!!

For me, they started about 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon. I was admitted on the Saturday at 9pm. Got to full dilation by 5am on Saturday. Ended in EMCS but that's just to give an idea! Try your hardest to sleep. Good luck x

Totally normal. Early labour can drag on for ages, especially with your first baby. Mine lasted almost two full days before I hit active labour. Try to rest between contractions if you can, hydrate, and maybe take a warm shower. You’re not doing anything wrong, your body’s just taking its time

First one was about 14 hours. Second was about three
