We had our DD just over ten weeks ago (our first child). DH and I have always had a good sex life and I was keen to recommence that. We had sex for the first time since the birth on Wednesday. I was slightly apprehensive but I really wanted it and thankfully there was no pain and all was fine.

However, despite being aroused and it feeling good I didn’t climax despite a lot of attention from DH and desire to on my part. I thought maybe it was heat and nerves combining but who knows? Anyway this morning DH was out and I used my vibrator, again for the first time since the birth. I eventually did have an orgasm but it took absolutely ages (almost half an hour, when normally it would take five minutes). It was a real struggle.

Has anyone else had this? Will it get easier again? Desire is there, arousal is there, but I can’t seem to get over the edge.

It gets better. I've had two dc and had the same issue afte4 both births. It takes time but there is a whole lot of healing to be done first.

Gets easier!! I think it’s something to do with your pelvic floor and muscles - they seem to work differently.

Thank you. I’m pleased to hear that I’m not alone and that it should get easier. We will keep trying!
