Hi to all,

Does anyone have suggestions for snacks that I can have during labour? I have Gestational Diabetes and am unsure if I can have high suger snacks during labour, e.g. sweets, biscuets, etc.

Thanks for all advice
Kazzy

Hm...I was not allowed to eat once I got into Hospital...which of course is utter tosh...but that were the rules...
so, make sure you eat somehting before you go in I wish I had...but with ds2 I had not eaten since the day before, went into Hospital in teh morning and didn't relaly fancy anything, and didn't give birth until almost 5pm...I was starving by that time...but they refused to give me anything until after..and then it took them a good hour till they finally brought in some tea and toast...sigh....

The protocol in our local hospital is nil by mouth for gd mums......

So I stayed at home where I could eat and drink normally.

I ate thin granary toast with hummus, smoothies, yogurt, soup.

Good job I stayed at home as it took me two full days to get from 5cm to fully - I would have been eating the bed sheets by then if I'd been in hospital!
