Balloon or pessary for induction

I’m being induced and was told depending on the outcome of initial examination upon arrival to the antenatal ward, I’ll either have a balloon or pessary induction. It wasn’t very clear in which circumstances either would be used. Does anyone know?

Pessary less chance of infection and more natural than the force of balloon, had an induction and did that one

Balloons are often used for women who have had cesareans or potentially have some kind of scar tissue on their womb- might this be something relevant to you?

I had a balloon, I would never have one again. Some people find it ok. If you have one, for goodness sake ask for the gas and air well before they start putting it in. It’s not something you want to feel.
