Hi everyone,

Recently found out we're expecting again, our baby is only 6 months old and was delivered via c section. Absolutely terrified but come round to the idea now.

However I am super worried about how quickly after my last c section I'm pregnant again...

I will be opting for Elective c section again, which from reading seems like the safest (and potentially only) option. The births will be around 14.5 months apart...

Has anyone else had a similar experience? What happened? Was everything okay? Did the midwives/consultants judge you? I'm so worried about this I don't know why. I just feel really embarrassed that we were caught out!! And scared of looking stupid- it was a pure accident but obviously we will love baby as much as our other children.

When did you have your c section (how many weeks), I'm wondering if they'll want to schedule it earlier? I had GD in my last pregnancy too...

Thanks everyone, any advice would be appreciated!

Were you using protection? The midwives shouid not judge. It’s happened now. They’ll give you advice about your concerns.

There absolutely should not be any judgement but they will have a duty to advise you of the potential complications and work with you to put a plan in place to make sure the pregnancy and birth go smoothly. Try not to take this as judgement, it’s just that there are some more obvious risks to getting pregnant so soon after a section that they will need to discuss with you.

I have a 15 month gap, both C sections. First was IVF, second was a frozen embryo so the IVF clinic knew what I was doing.
I flew the second C section. Had DD on Friday afternoon and on Tuesday 4 days later I lifted DS out of his cot and carried him downstairs without a problem.
I was nearly 41.
at 28 and 29 my DC are very close to each other.
Enjoy your pregnancy

Hi OP. Congrats on your news. I have 13 months between my DCs. First delivery was an emergency c-section after being induced - after 2 hours of pushing and failure to progress (baby was back to back). 2nd delivery was a normal delivery about a week late after having my ‘membranes swept’ - they did warn me that if I didn’t progress reasonably quickly then I would end up with a c-section.

15 months between planned c sections, the secomd at 40 weeks. No problems or judgement. Congratulations!
