Recovery after perineal reconstruction/refashioning

Im finally getting my perineum/vaginal wall repaired nearly 2 years after childbirth 😳

Looking for experiences of recovery, I’m a single mum and have a wild toddler 😵‍💫 I’ve got some help for a few days and the consultant has said I’ll need a month for work but I’m looking any lived experiences. I generally found episiotomy recovery straightforward and not too bad.

Thank you

Is it just refashioning? That's not so bad. I've had three refashioning ops plus rectocele/perrioraphy last year.

If its more than refashioning then it's pretty tough going. I nearly went out of my mind being so restricted and in my case the prolapse recurred within a couple of months (due to health issues, NOT doing too much after the op).

But If just refashioning, I don't think you'll need a month off work though I did need at least a week/10 days.

Are you having GA? I had two ops with LA. And two with GA.
Definitely preferred LA.

I had this under GA around 13 years ago. Day surgery. Excised whole scar and refashioned the perineum. I can't remember it being debilitating or particularly painful tbh. But the birth and recovery the previous year had been horrific so not a useful yardstick for comparison! Good luck.
