Second thoughts about planned c-section

Hi all,
I’m very close to my due date and I’m starting to have second thoughts about my planned C-section.
I had an emergency C-section after being induced during my last pregnancy. I initially chose to have another C-section this time because it would make it easier to arrange my husband’s paternity leave and childcare for our first child.

But lately I’ve been wondering if I should try for a natural birth instead.
One thing that’s been on my mind, though, is the timing of the birthdays. If I go ahead with the planned C-section, the baby will be born at least five days apart from my first child’s birthday. But if I wait for labor to start naturally, my due date is only two days apart from my first child’s birthday—so they might end up sharing the same birthday, which I’m not really keen on.

Being induced last time was traumatic, and I’m not sure I want to go through that again. But a part of me still wants to experience a natural birth.

I only have a few more days left until my planned C-section, and honestly, part of me just hopes I’ll go into labor tonight.

Aww congratulations! I too have a planned Caesarian but quite honestly I know it’ll just end up being another emergency one :( so really don’t have much choice. All I know is that if I had an option for normal delivery I would take it and that’s just because my recovery for caesarian is horrific- like honestly can’t move and just pain for months on end. If you feel like you can manage the pain and be up and about in 5 days for your first child birthday, firstly, you are superwoman, secondly it does make sense logistically. But personally I would do anything not to get cut open again - just really depends on how you feel xx also if you want to set off labour naturally, tons of pineapple and spicy food may help x

@Hsmith11
So sorry to hear your recovery was horrific 😭

I had my first baby in a different country, and the care was quite different from the NHS. I actually felt okay after the C-section, but I couldn’t talk about the induction for a long time. It was just so traumatic. And yet… here I am, kind of wanting to try it again.

Our firstborn is still very little and we’re not planning a party or anything, but I just want to be there with the family—opening presents and making memories together.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It really helps to hear from others who’ve been through it.

I will try the pineapple and spicy food trick tonight…worth a shot, right?
