If you had a sweep, how many weeks were you and why?

First pregnancy I had a sweep at 40 & 41 weeks, then induced at 42 weeks, during the 3rd attempt a midwife gave me a horrific sweep so bad I had to tell her to stop.

I've declined sweeps in subsequent pregnancies.

Had one at 40 weeks - didn’t do anything unfortunately. I asked for an induction at 41 weeks.

WhatMe123 · 15/05/2025 17:55

40+3 days worked for me 😁

dancinjo · 15/05/2025 19:25

Had one at 40 weeks +7 in the morning and had my baby the next day

39 weeks. I'd been in early labour for a few days and contractions had stalled. They started back up again within 30 mins of having the sweep.

MummyJ36 · 15/05/2025 22:01

Had two with DC1, second one was at 41+5 and I went into labour within 24 hours. DC1 ended up arriving on the day of my booked induction.

Had a sweep on my 1st baby at 40+6, cervix wasn't favourable, labour started early hours the next morning and baby born at 40+9
Had a sweep this morning for DC2 at 40+9 will let you know if that progresses

1441x · 19/05/2025 06:59

Updating above for any future readers^

Had second sweep on Saturday at 41+3. Increased bishop score and she said she could have broken my waters for me, had mild cramping and lots of bloody show for the rest of the day.
Woke up with nothing and no signs on Sunday.

I'm now 41+5 still pregnant

I had one with my first baby 2 days before my due date as my midwife was going on holiday, it was horribly painful and I then had a very long 2 day labour due to baby being back to back. I wish I'd waited for things to start naturally to he honest.

jolota · 19/05/2025 16:25

I had a sweep because I was 'overdue' and wanted to avoid an induction at 42 weeks. Was hoping it would start labour naturally, had the sweep on a Friday (41+2) and woke up contracting on the Sunday morning. So I guess it worked maybe? Baby didn't arrive until Tuesday evening though

38 weeks, I had low PAPP A (I think it was called) so they wanted to get me going early. Had 2 and they didn't work
