Where did the show go?

Just out of curiosity really as it’s a while since I gave birth, but I was never aware of losing the mucus plug when I went through labour and birth. Natural births and labours, I was fully aware of waters breaking each time but the fluid was completely clear, no mucus or anything resembling a show. In cases like this, where does the mucus plug go? Surely it must be pushed out ahead of the baby?

It can come out during labour bit by bit and your not likely to be noticing discharge at that time when you have contractions to deal with

I've had 4 natural births and only on the first one did I have an actual show and saw the plug. Otherwise it just comes away bit by bit and isn't noticeable.

My plug went only when I started to push push ( water birth so midwife noticed although they didnt need to use the sive )and baby was almost born in his waters.
