Kingston Hospital

Am going to be giving birth at Kingston Hospital and wondering what items I would get given post birth so that I don’t double up buying too much stuff, like peri bottles, spritz spray - the smaller things I guess cause I already got pads and disposable undies. Is there anything else I need that would be useful?

Gave birth in Kingston in august. Don't think I got given anything of that sort. (I could borrow a breast pump when I was in hospital which was super useful because my baby had trouble latching). I also bought lots of things and didn't use them, the frida baby cold pads especially take up so much space!

The NHS doesn't provide anything like that. You need to take anything you want yourself. I never used spritz spray but I did find a peri bottle helpful. Take sliders instead of flip flops to wear around the ward / shower because if you have to wear compression stockings, the toe thong in flip flops is really annoying.

Take lots of maternity pads.

I don’t think Kingston would be different from most other hospitals. You need to provide your own belongings for post birth.

You might get some maternity pads initially but mainly expected to bring your own or disposable knickers.

Some hospitals have a few bottle of formula as a back up but you are mainly expected to buy your own. My baby was in nicu for a bit and they gave a few days of nappies but then I provided my own.

i think it’s mainly in America they gift you stuff

If you Google "NHS hospital bag" there's a good section on the start4life website with a checklist for what to pack 🙂
