C Section & music

Hi! Due to have planned c section imminently. At my pre- op, they said I could play my own music but I forgot to ask how? Do I make a spotify playlist or do they play it through youtube, or do I need to take a CD?! If anyone has had an elective section recently, how did it work for you?

TIA

They had a cd player when I last gave birth.....few years ago though!! It did bugger all distraction wise 🤣

I think they had Spotify at ours a couple of years ago. The midwife was delighted when we agreed to let her play Christmas music.

You just give them your phone at our hospital. So you take your phone and your partner’s phone in, one for music, one for photos. Despite the mumsnetters who will come here and tell you that is absolutely not possible and no phones are allowed in theatres 😆

Thanks so much everyone! Will take spotify on my phone and hope they can connect it somehow!

ask them - some places have bluetooth speakers, some will need you to bring your own. Bear in mind that if things get tricky operatively the surgeons may ask for the music to be turned down/off. Anything by Ed Sheeran will likely get you kicked out of theatres!!

We took a small Bluetooth speaker with us and my OH played music through that. We also used his phone for photos too, so no need to take 2 phones in.

I think the theatre had their own Bluetooth speaker we could have used, but I found it easier to just take our own as we knew it was paired and would work; no need to faff with pairing a new speaker or troubleshooting if it wasn't connecting properly.

We had a spotify playlist on DH’s phone and I think there was a bluetooth speaker in theatre. It made our experience so much more personal and our lovely midwife used DH’s phone to take photos of DS being born too, which are amazing. Have fun making your playlist! I still listen to ours loads and DS is four months old now 😊
