Hiya, had DS1 in hospital but DS2 was born at home.

I feel I was really lucky and pretty much had a perfect birth the 2nd time round, it was just beautiful.

Part of me thinks I wont be so lucky as to achieve this again... has anybody had a 2nd homebirth?

Thankyou

We have 2 DC, both born at home in our bath, both big babies 8.8 lbs and 9.3 lbs, both straight forward deliveries but DD (2nd) much more painful

i wanted to have ds2, ds3 and ds4 at home but they were all two weeks or more overdue so i ended up going into hospital, however i laboured how i WANTED to, and had three lovely births even tho they were in hospital, a bit of gas and air, i stayed mobile and gave birthupright etc, ds4 was born in the hospital birth pool, his birth was VERY quick and he was ten pounds and thirteen ounces, no stiches tho

disenchanted am desperately hoping the same or goodness knows what this one will be

I am thinking that DD2 is a blip and I am actually meant to have little 6 or 7lbers.

duchesse · 12/05/2008 22:26

Yep- both daughters. Both very different labours, but both absolutely fine.

jamila169 · 12/05/2008 22:48

Yep , DS1 C/s, Ds2 born at home,DD1 born at home DD2 should have been born at home, but an APH put paid to that

first two born in hospital, second two both at home. Ds3 was the largest of the lot (though nowhere near 10lbs) and the easiest birth as well.

Oh I hope your home births go well!

I always thought that the 10Lb-s were mostly fat and muscle on top of a bony 7Lb-er - so the 'extra' weight is just squishy squashy, not boney hurty!

Flame · 12/05/2008 23:27

My mate has had 3 - all great

Ceolas · 12/05/2008 23:32

Think Spidermama's had 4 as well.

Just one for me, but if I ever get pregnant again, I'd have another

Should add, dd was born 14 days overdue - I had a lovely doctor who said there was ABSOLUTELY no problem going over the 12 day cutoff time for induction, and I think he would have let me go longer with monitoring tbh. Interestingly she appeared 'early', covered in vernix etc (although as I said 10lb), ds2 born at 8 days over seemed a bit 'post mature' - wrinkly skin, seemed to have lost a bit of weight just prior to birth etc. So dates aren't everything.

Disenchanted, I'm also hoping for a second home birth. DD2 (about 7 pounds) was born at home but it was a horrible birth - the best bit was the fact that I was at home!

I'm hoping for an easier birth next time...aren't we all?
