Birth stories

Hi I am very recently postpartum and was just thinking about how it feels like people have become obsessed with birth stories and the right way to birth etc. Does anyone agree? Is this a new thing or has this always been the case?

Sometimes I feel like this a bit about everything in parenthood… like it’s always a competition on how easy/difficult things are or what the right way to parent is.

fyi- am very sad about all the births of my kids (3 c sections-2/3 emergency) and it’s probably to do with this!! But I do try to move on, but it is difficult when I am in the stage of life where everyone is having babies and comparing birth stories.

I don't often think it's about comparing or finding the "right way to birth". Personally, I think birth and postpartum are traumatic for the vast majority of women and trying to find someone who wants to listen to your story is hard. I will always be ready to listen to someone's birth story for this reason.

I'm sorry you're sad about the births of your kids. It's such a hard thing to come to terms with.
