3cm dilated at sweep?? What does this all mean

This is my 3rd baby but I’ve never had a stretch and sweep before. I had one this morning and the midwife wrote in my notes

3cm dilated
cervix was 0.5cm
central location
-2 station

I have no idea what this means?! I didn’t read it until I arrived home and now I’m confused and google is making me stressed.

positive? Negative?

thank you

I had 3 babies and sweeps for all. For first I was 0cm, ds2 and DS3 I was 1-2cm at sweep, don’t think it meant much and I recall midwife saying both times after each child you naturally are at least 1cm.
For all sweeps I went into labour within 24 hours and recall her using the fact of 75% of sweeps go into labour within 24 hrs. Whether this is a coincidence who knows but mine worked. It’s all very subjective though. Good luck!

Speaking as an ex midwife. It’s positive that the cervix is shortening & thinning (the 0.5cm) & also dilating. The -2 means babes head it still high though, but when the contractions start I’d expect that head to come down & you to progress pretty quick. Especially if you’ve had a vaginal birth before.

Thanks everyone, fingers crossed then.

yes I’ve had 1 vaginal birth 3 years ago which was nice and straightforward 🤞🏻

hopefully won’t be too long but I don’t have anything going on at the moment 😂
