Torn. I am 6 months pregnant with my second child, starting to think more and more about the birth. My first was an EMCS but I hadn't gone into labour, I thought I wanted a VBAC for my second (maybe for the "experience") but I'm now starting to think does it just make more sense / safer to elect a CS. They will be 22 months apart. Advice please!

You really have to follow your heart on this one. Yes- vbacs have increased risks and may end up in an c-section, but plenty of women do have them and deliver without any complications.

Only you know how much the “experience” of a vaginal delivery means to you. Some women find it an empowering experience they are desperate to have, some would rather be run over by a bus repeatedly. As a second time mum you know that how you birth your baby makes you no more or less a mum. We live in a culture that over idealises birth and what it should be, and tells every woman they can have the exact birth they dream of. The reality is often really very different and leaves a lot of women disappointed and feeling like failures.

You need to do what you think is best for you, your baby and your body. Don’t get caught up in other people’s ideas about what birth is or should be.

I went for a vbac but it failed and I had an emc. I’m still glad I followed my heart and attempted vbac
