Hi.

im booked for planned section soon and am still in two minds about having another section (my first was an emergency) or to try VBAC. I can have a sweep at the midwife today but not sure if that’s the right thing to do but do would really appreciate advice or experiences please. I thought I would know by now and I don’t

It's a very personal decision OP and probably dependant on your experience first time around and what your own specific worries/hopes/fears are.

Elective sections are a different story to emergency CS, can be really lovely and more predictable/less risk of things going suddenly "wrong", which appealed to me. I've never regretted mine and I had a lovely recovery too, although you must factor in having at least some help with your existing child.

I think it depends on the reason for the first section. I had an emergency first time, essentially the baby could get through the birth canal because of the shape, I requested a section for second one, but was refused, I then had to have ventouse delivery because the same problem was occurring, but baby was further in.
I wished I had been a lot firmer in requesting a section.

DC2 I went for a vbac and gave it my all. It didn’t work out for me but I would have done the same thing again knowing it didn’t work. I wanted to feel the closure of knowing I tried.

DC3 I’m not medically going to risk a vbac I have booked an elective
