My baby is now 16 weeks old but been thinking about her birth, mainly after visiting a cranial osteopath.

I had an epidural when I was fully dilated, had been asking for it for hours, they gave it me 3 hours later (ouch) and then did an examination and were suprised that I was fully dilated.

I was then asked whether I wanted to push or to wait an hour, I chose to wait as I was enjoying the "rest" after 24 hours of labour beforehand. The midwife left the room and I suddenly felt a strange sensation, not unlike my waters breaking, pressed a button, in came the midwife, she lifted the sheet and there was my baby half out .. !!

She is my first child, I just wonder whether its a bit odd (but good too) that this happened? Has it happened to anyone else or am I a bit abnormal??

I dont know if its normal or not, there probably isnt a norm with childbirth. But count yourself lucky I had a hell of a time pushing out DS!! I think its good you are going over all of it in your head though. I have done a lot of that.

I think that afterwards (when you eventually get time to think!) its good to work through it.

My little one suffers with a fair few digestive problems, when the cranial man asked me how the birth was and I said that it was straight forward. I realised that it may have been harder for her, maybe she did the difficult end bits herself .. lots of strain on her neck etc? She was back to back with me and also turned herself, and then to deliver herself too ...

I also wonder if it meant that I have really weak pelvic muscles, which just sort of fell apart at the crucial moment?! I dont think so though as no problems before or after, and had always done a lot of pilates etc
